Day 5 poem about heirloom seeds
One of my favorites
So I transplanted a young
tree from the woods.
They are under story trees
and do well in partial shade.
I had the perfect spot
and nursed the tree all summer.
In the fall I built a barricade around it
to protect it from the deer.
I was so proud of my little tree
and thought perhaps my thumb was turning
a bit green.
When a conservation specialist visited
and noted my tree she said,
“That’s a healthy little black walnut
My response, “Ahh nuts!”
